Bird Sets Record With 7,257-Mile Nonstop Flight

Who: The bar-tailed godwit



What: Continuously flew 7,257 miles nonstop, breaking a record of 4,038 miles from the Eastern curlew.




Where: Across the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand




When: Friday, October 17th 2008. Lasted 5 and 9.4 days.




What I think: I think it was amazing that a bird could fly for that long with no food, water or rest.

Polar Ice Feels the Heat

Who: It's effecting most animals in the North and South Pole such as polar bears, whales, gray wolfs, grizzly bears, bald eagles, buffalo whooping cranes and florida panthers.
What: The polar ice and other glaciers melting and causing the atmosphere to become warmer. We need the cold to stay alive.
Without ice we won't be able to survive on Earth.
Where: National Snow and Ice Data Center and other glaciers and polar ice.
When: Now and in the future.
Why: Global Warming is causing lots of animals to go extinct.
